Okay...I rather bite your finger than mine anyway!
Okay...Bad Mommy Again...It's been two weeks since I have been able to catch up!! I am officially DONE with Pfizer now...they took it all away...samples, literature, years of study materials, and my car!! That is why I have not had a chance to sit down!!
So when I left you last we just got our new truck on Valentine's...WELL come to find out when I finally decided to drive it 2 weeks later ( I still had my company car ) I went into town with Jaxton to run some errands and boy did he hate the truck!! Way to bumpy...his little car seat toy that dangles across his seat was doing jumping jacks every time I hit a "LITTLE" bump and he kept trying to close his eyes but was awaken by a jolt from another bump!! I felt so sorry for him so after a "SHORT" talk with Ross we called our friend at the FORD dealership and thank heavens he was able to take it back and get us into an Expedition!! Jaxton REALLY likes it too...took a good long nap in it yesterday when we were running around!! :)
Last weekend my best friend I grew up with, Jason, brought his daughter,Lauren, over to meet Jaxton. They looked at each other and that's about it because they are a year apart BUT when they get a little older they will be runnin' buddies!
This week we took Jaxton to church for Lent and he just gazed at the pretty colors in the stained glass BUT when we were in the line to take communion the man behind me must have been making faces at him because all of a sudden Jaxton curled down his bottom lip and looked at me for help!! When I turned around the man had some really thick glasses on that made his eyes look 10 times bigger so I can see where Jaxton might have gotten scared!! Poor Baby!! Jaxton also got to meet Rev. Bob Johnson who married us!! Ross and I decided we were going to give up meat for LENT so I could really get back into my cooking ( which by the way I have been doing A LOT of and it has been turning out pretty darn good I might say for myself!!? ) BUT when I woke up the morning of Ash Wednesday and saw that Ross had eaten 3/4 of the King Cake ALL BY HIMSELF I sent him a URGENT text message saying, " Eat all the meat you want! WE are going to give up SWEETS instead!!
Jaxton is still eating his Oatmeal and now he is trying to take some in the morning and evening so we can gear up for when he is 6 months ( 2 more weeks!!). His gag reflex works very well we have come to find out on two different occasions!! Right after he has taken a whole bottle he has put his fingers so far down his throat ( because he's trying to suck on them so hard ) that his formula has come up like an overflowing toilet...now that's scary!! Luckily we were right there both times and were able to flip him over before he even knew anything happened!!
Well lots has been going on with Jaxton so I am just going to start at the top:
1. His hair seems to be really coming in more Strawberry than blonde...where is that coming from??
2. He has full head control now to the point where he tries to pull his head up when I am trying to cradle him in my arms..whah...my little baby is growing up!!
3. His poor little eye still waters all day and I even tried to put a tea bag on it since Kathrin told us it worked for her daughter..BUT it hasn't worked yet and Jaxton lays so still when I put it on there but turns his bottom lip under until I take it off!! :(
4. Don't know if I ever mentioned this one but Jaxton LOVES his ears cleaned with those new Q-tips for babies ( they won't allow it to go all the way into the ear )...AND when I have to use the bulb to clean his nose...he LOVES it when you can hear it suck the boogies out!!
5. When I am dressing him in the morning I will put lotion on his elbows and knees since they always seem so rough and when I do he does the biggest belly laugh! Tickle points??
6. Every week (if not more) I have to cut his nails because they grow so fast...and you would think as active as he is it would be hard to do...WRONG...he lays there really still and just stares at my face while I talk to him about what I am doing!
7. Okay...we have officially entered into the GRABBING stage...he is using his fingers so well now and wants to feel and grab everything!! So I have taken him outside and let him grab all the plants and tree leaves he wants to feel different textures. BUT the other morning he really liked the color of my coffee mug (red hearts) and tried to grab it too...thank goodness it was half full or it would have gotten all over him...so what I did instead was I finished my coffee and then put a little of his formula in it to see if he could drink it from a real cup ( I am going to introduce him to a sippy cup this week for fun so when it's time he will like it...the sooner the better they say!!) and what would you know?!...he drank about 10 very small sips until it was all gone!!
8. During bath time, when it's time to wash his bum bum...he gets a really big smile on his face and pulls his knees towards his chest with his hands so I can make sure I get it really clean...it's hilarious!!!
I am still swaddling him at night and I have a feeling this is gonna be the one thing I am going to have to wean him off of or he might just have to go cold turkey when he can no longer fit in the swaddle ( I think I will wait because he sure is sleeping good at night...I'm still trying to catch up on all those months of getting up every 2-3 hrs)
I can definitely tell you I have worn Jaxton out several times over the past few weeks because when it's bedtime he has fallen asleep finishing his bottle, then I wake him to burp him and he falls asleep again sitting in my lap and then he falls asleep again when I am putting him into his swaddle...so funny I was laughing pretty hard!!
Ross bought me the Baby Food maker from Williams and Sonama (Beaba) for Christmas and I am going to try it out on Sunday for his first Vegetable tasting which will be sweet potatoes!! I am looking forward to making him all kinds of flavorful foods so he develops a great palate!! You need to read up on all the GOOD points of making your own baby food ( for at least months 6 -12 which is the window of opportunity to help them develop their taste buds ) if you have a new baby!! I will keep you posted on how it goes!!
So you can see we have been very busy these past few weeks!! He changes so much and it is so incredible to see his little personality develop right before our eyes!
