Since New Year's the cold weather has finally swooped down to Houston! I really love the cold but now that I have a 2 year old I only wish to have a few days here and there cause we get House Bored and Phobic! We ( yes I am including Jaxton) cleaned our whole house to the point we would have passed the "White Glove" test with flying colors! Jaxton loves to clean or at least pretends to clean with me so that helps alot! But it does backfire on me when we are at other peoples houses and he tells them they need to clean something...which it actually does need to be cleaned...BUT then I know that person is so embarrased...for example...a dirty ceiling fan!! After all the cleaning Ross left town for work for a week and Jaxton got a cold...not too bad but then again I didn't want to get him any sicker taking him out in public so we played at home alot. I took him to the Dr. to just make sure it was nothing else and she said allergies / cold ..they did weigh him and he was 28 lbs and his height was 35 1/2 so he definitely is growing some ( he has gained 2 lbs and grown an inch in the past 3 1/2 months)....and oh yes...any time we are at home he is NAKED ( which he says when his shirt is off)! I can't get him to keep that thing on....at least he listens to me when I tell him he has to keeps his pants on so teetee doesn't get all over him!
I have FINALLY put myself back on a workout program and am feeling GREAT....BUT I did have to go see the Dr. recently for a sharp ear pain which after a thorough check-up turned out to be from my IPOD ear phones since my ears weren't used to it frm the 2 years of non-use...Oh my goodness!! I also finally read a book I bought about 9/11 which is titled " The Report from Ground Zero" which gave me a whole new appreciation as to what a firefighter does for the American person....GOD BLESS them. It was a very vivid account of what actually happened 10 years ago on that fateful day....I learned so much from it. There was a foundation formed called the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund to raise money for them and one of the fundraisers was the selling of 2 Beanie Baby dogs "Rescue" and "Courage". I was so touched by this book that I immediately looked on the Beanie Baby web-site to see if they were still available so I could have a constant reminder of the things I learned from this book but unfortuantely it said they were retired in 2002. So where's the next best place to look....E-Bay!!! And of course I found them and bought them right away and I have them in my possession right now for Jaxton to have as a keepsake too!!
As for Jaxton starting off his New Year, he now knows all his ABC's and points out letters everywhere we go...we were at Memorial City Mall not long ago walking by White House Black Market and he sat at the window pointing and saying every letter....so amazing to see their little brains develop!! I have to commend LeapFrog Fridge (or at our house...WINE COOLER) Phonics and their LeapFrog Computer for teaching him the ABC's and the phonics...of course I help him too but I can't even remember the correct way to pronounce all the letter's...LOL!! But his FAVORITE line right now is "ONE MORE TIME"....and if you seriously let him do it one more time then he is done!!
Jaxton finally did it....he was flipping and playing around too much on the bed (at nap time) and rolled right off and scared the heck out of me and him!! I was laying down to nap with him too so I was thankful I was right there!! After I thoroughly looked him over and moved all his limbs around I finally saw the reddness start to appear on his nose and upperlip from a major carpet burn....I think he learned his lesson! Gymnastics is teaching him to be so much more DARING & CONFIDENT!!
I have been a member of a club in Cypress called MOMS ( Moms Offering Moms Support) now for about 7 months and Jaxton and I have loved it so much! We have met so many other fun Mom's and their kids. We have a playgroup where we get together every week at someone's house and Jaxton has really enjoyed playing with other kids. Recently the President of our group offered and then appointed me to be on their Board of Directors as their Membership Vice President...which I was really flattered by and thankful that other Mom's in this group really do like me!
This past Friday Ross and I (and Jaxton) visited a couple of preschools to find out which one we all liked best for Jaxton to start a Mother's Day out program in the fall. We all fell in love with and felt very welcomed at The Foundry which is a program at a United Methodist Church out here by us. It was recommended to me by several of the mom's in my MOMS group and several of our friends who used to be in our Sunday School class at Chapelwood. So come Febuary 9th Jaxton will formerly be signed up for SCHOOL!! At least I have 7 months to prepare myself!!!
Unfortunately this past weekend Ross and I both had funerals to attend. We continue to pray for the loss of my Aunt Sally's mom, Charlene, and for Ross's best friend, Grant, who lost his mom, Dilly. It's times like this that remind you how PRECIOUS LIFE IS and to make sure you try your hardest to LIVE IN THE MOMENT and to be so THANKFUL for EVERYTHING you ALREADY have!!
