Incredible Week!!!

Just to look back from one week from today and think about all that has happened is astounding!! What a ride we had from Hurricane Ike!! Fortunately for Ross and I we only had some wind damage to our roof and no power for about 6 hours...unlike everyone of our friends and family who have had no power until yesterday and some still without. We were lucky out here because we have no large trees and our power lines are underground. As for the night of the storm, I thought I was Dorothy in the beginning of the movie The Wizard of Oz!! As much as I am a weather freak, I was truly nervous during this one. The winds were howling for 12 hours straight here as was the continuous pouring down of the rain which I believe we received around 9 inches out here!! As I looked out of my window in almost complete darkness throughout the night all I could get a glimpse of was the small trees we have out here just bending straight to the east. All I kept thinking as my belly was aching was "Please Jaxton.....just stay in there a little longer!!!" Just to look at the pictures of the incredible devastation South Texas has endured is enough to make your heart skip a beat!!

The pictures above can give you a little reminder of how lucky we all our to be alive and unharmed!!

So I called my Dr. yesterday morning to see if I would still have my check-up today and they were up and running at Memorial City with full power. Ross and I were SURPRISED to learn that I had already dilated 2 cm!!! This means that my body is preparing for labor as I write this!! After her exam of me, which was not pleasant at all, I had more contractions that ever!! I guess she just irritated my cervix a little!! She said for me to come back next Tuesday to see if I have dilated anymore....if I haven't gone into labor by then!! She said if I am still the same that she would let me continue to ride this out BUT if I was 3-4 cm she would more than likely check me into the hospital that Thursday ( Sept. 25 ) and I would probably have Jaxton that day!! We will just have to wait and see what he does. She did say though that I was very lucky to already have been dilated to 2 cm at 37 1/2 weeks and I would probably have a fast and easy labor. WHAT???? CAN YOU SAY THAT AGAIN??? FAST AND EASY!! She said this because my weight gain has been really good ( which by the way I GAINED another pound this past week ) and that I am in good shape along with all my vitals being in the normal range. We will just have to see if this all comes to fruition!!!

Also surprisingly, Ross and I had our last class to attend last night...Infant CPR!!! We were so glad to have taken the class and feel much more prepared in case of an incident!!!

Well I guess now we just wait around to see if my contractions get stronger and shorter in duration and then OFF TO THE HOSPITAL WE GO!!! I can almost hear the Champagne Cork popping now!!!!!
